FMP photo editing

I don’t know if what I want to say is relevant, but I’m gonna make it relevant. With years, whenever I did any kind of photography, more and more I start to like the original photo rather than the edited one. To be fair, I never liked to put up to 5 filters on the photo, but with time I don’t really want to edit them at all. And I’m trying to get to people that it is not because I’m lazy.  Same with these photos. I set down, send the chosen ones to my desktop, opened them in Photoshop and then…nothing. I was stuck. I opened the adjustments window and just started changing stuff to see if I’ll like my picture more. I didn’t. The only thing I would change would be brightness/contrast and saturation. That’s nothing. I was a bit angry that I had to do it, because if I don’t then I’m not gonna have any photo editing process and my mark will go down, I guess. All of this photoshop editing felt super useless, but I had to do it.

In my sketchbook, I decided not to put any photoshop screenshots, because everything I did after all was to add a but more sharpness to the photo and maybe like 5% darker. Oh and I did add a hint of green shadow here and there. Some of the photos I decided to make black & white and that was a really good decision, because I loved how the photos looked. They instantly had more character to them. Then, I just stuck the ones I “edited” in my sketchbook.

FMP sketchbook

Today I printed out contact sheets from my photoshoot to put in my sketchbook. In total, I think I had 370 photos. Overall, I think the photoshoot went pretty well, I’m really sad about the fact that I couldn’t do any polaroid photos. Whether it was the sun, or just my camera, I don’t know what was the problem. I thought you can take polaroids outside. Anyways, next, I should be choosing out of all my 370 photos the ones I want to edit and put in my final poster.

Quick short entry. Nothing major happened so far. My boxed that I ordered from Tiny Box Co should come today. And the stickers from Amazon should come tomorrow. Tomorrow I should be ready to start the decoration of the boxes. It shouldn’t take long.

The t-shirt that I used in my photoshoot are a bit creased now, because at the end of the photoshoot I was so tired I threw them in the bag and left them there for good few days, so they don’t look as neat anymore, that means I have to iron them and re-fold them neatly again. I will also have to see if everything I want to put in the box will actually fit there. I hope so. Also, this upcoming monday I have to print out my contact sheets.

FMP photoshoot

Today was the day of my photoshoot!!! To be fair, I love taking photographs, it’s something that I don’t do much but always enjoy doing when I get a chance to. Well, it wasn’t like that for this one. Maybe because I was doing it after a long day of lessons, my mood was below 30%. Also, my plans changed a bit, because in the last moment, my sister decided to ditch me and not do the photoshoot. I was really stressed. But I found a girl, my sister’s friend, they go to the same college. This girl is kind of a catch, because she’s skinny, tall and have beautiful long red hair.

After college I had to quickly go grab her near her accommodation, go to Varsity, do her make up and decide which outfits I’m choosing. It was a pretty hot day, so the outfit with vintage huge creme D&G’s coat had to go unfortunately.

I did heavy green eye make up on her eyes, because it matched well with her eyes and complimented her green hair. I decided not to have a bedroom as an option for location anymore, because the only bedroom I have where I can photograph is my room in Varsity, and trust me, when I say it’s not cute even when it’s tidy, it’s not. Ugly as hell. So I decided to go to the roof top.

The one I had in mind was at the top of Grafton centre (shopping mall), I’ve been there before, pretty decent roof. But, when we came the roof top was closed, because builders were working there. I found another roof that was a bit more far away, but that one should be open. That roof was at the top of the swimming pool. When we came there I was lucky enough and it was open. Plus, it was perfect because there was literally no cars and no people, the sky was beautiful, slight sunset and perfect weather.

I quickly made her change there. My main goal was to make some good photos where you can clearly see the t-shirts, so that my customer knows what I’m selling and then I can relax and just photograph. I honestly think I’m not bad at photography at all. I never get lost when directing, I know which pose I want and where. Most of the time the problem is with the model, they can’t keep their faces straight for some reason.

I had a lot of fun doing this photoshoot, I think I may have some really good photos. The only thing is, I really wanted all of my photos to be polaroid photos, even if the  resolution is not as great, but when I tried taking few polaroids outside they all came up so bright you can barely see what’s on the photo. I took a few, when tried to cover the flash as well, but it hardly helped. I think it was due to the sun exposure or the quality of the camera. Anyways, can’t wait to print out the contact sheet and chose the ones I’m going to edit.

FMP boxes

So I have decided that I’m going to decorate my boxes with stickers. When searching for them on the internet, I went straight to Amazon, because Amazon has everything. I found exactly what I needed. They literally sell pack of 50-500 random cool stickers in one package. Here is a screen shot of what I ordered

I ordered stickers worth 51 pounds, because I’m scared that I’m gonna run out of them and not cover every box. But still, should be enough for 6 boxes.

I still have to decide on how I’m going to decorate my boxes. Again, there is few ways I can do that.  I can either just leave the boxes like they are, but that would be too simple. I can paint or spray paint them over in one monochrome colour, like for example purple. I can spray paint by using stencil, spray my logo in the middle of the lid or make it into pattern. I can cover the whole boxes in random stickers, I think that might look really cool. Or I can hand paint, decorate, DIY the whole boxes. But for that I have to decide what I’m going to draw. This is going to take time. It is also such pitty that my boxed are not made out of wood, I think that would have looked really cool when presenting. But that would be hard to find those, so I will just go with the ones I ordered from Tiny Box Co.

So, I think I might go with the sticker idea. I still don’t really know what it’s going to look like but for me it is the most practical way to do it.

FMP table mapping

Today I have completed a table mapping page in my sketchbook. This was done just to tick a box, as a sign of preparation.

In my sketchbook I just drew a table viewing from the top and sketched where I’m going to put what on the day of the exhibition. So, on the table itself will be 6 of my boxed lined next to each other. The lids will be on and whoever will be interested can open and see what’s inside. Next to the last box somewhere in the corner will be two of my sketchbooks laid neatly on top of each other.

And, last but not least, above the table on the wall will be displayed an A0 size poster of the image I will chose to put as my poster. (probably one of the photos from the photoshoot)
